For over five years I’ve been a contributing photographer for Roast Magazine, covering coffee from origin to roasting to service. As a freelance photographer (accredited AIPS media) I shot the Tour De France from 2002-2006. Editorial clients include Condé Nast, Velo News, and Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Commercial clients include Patagonia, Nike, and Clif Bar.

During my free time I’ve raced for the Clif Bar cycling team, and hit up the coffee bars wherever I am (eg, NY, Chicago, LA, Tokyo). During the fall of 2010 I received my Barista Guild Of America (BGA) Level 1 Barista Certification.

In winter/spring of 2011, I headed to Guatemala for a Patagonia environmental internship with Coffee Kids and the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Institute (which promotes bird-friendly coffee).

My interest in coffee developed in early 2008, from ordering coffee at Intelligentsia. Eventually, I enrolled as a student in their home barista class in Chicago, and recently joined them as a photographer for their Extraordinary Coffee Workshop.

In September of 2011 I got third at the World Siphonist Championships in Tokyo.
